FPV Tricopter + Jakub's GoPro Gimbal

tricopter fpv gopro gimbal
Inspired by @Patscherofel and bored with the "hard" mounted GoPro look at decided to try and mount my Jakub's GoPro gimbal onto my tricopter. I've enabled camera stabilization to the gimbal and it's working. I need to tune out some jittering I think, but over all I like the results.

I've since upgraded the "pitch' servo to an HS-65HB which is much smoother than the HXT900 that I have on there now.

Here's some pics.

Here's vide of the initial test I conducted today.

Nice to have for those sweet aerial shots.
good stabilization set up!
is it just because I had a long day...but I get a bit dizzy watching the video
maybe its because I would expect the camera to tilt when you go in a direction...and then its just fixed at the horizon

I dont actually stabalize at all on my setup...most of the times fixed gopro and now I have tilt option , but only over a switch on the tx..I dont have a second camera for fpv though

a friend and i were talking about how people become accustomed to seeing things a certain way and our brains will do some work behind the scenes to put things together in a way that makes sense to us. perhaps since you may be used to see your footage move in a certain way this is disorienting to you. it could possibly be that...

i saw the tilt you'd added to your frame and was inspired to install a gimbal on mine. so far i like this. i really like what you've done and may still build another bottom plate that is similar to yours. would you mind if asked you some questions about how you've built that?
SEXY!!!!

i actually bought the gimbal last year from quadframe.com and i figured i'd give it a try on my tri ;)
Hey which kit did you get form quadframe.com? Was is the lunar lander or landing legs one?
I didn;t my tricopter from quadframe. Just the gimbal. The tricopter is from getfpv.com
Ah yeah I just meant which gimbal. He sells 2 versions. I got the lunar lander one (same as yours) in the end to go on my delrin tricopter. Just reversed it to mount on top, but it seems like the travel of it isn't particularly good. I ended up swapping the base plate out today for some stiffer wood. The bamboo wobbled too much when it had any weight on the front.

Yea, I changed the wood on mine too, I use 1/8 in birch plywood when I use the gimbal.
