Step 6,7,8 - Mount Motors, Finish Wiring, Setup CC Board

Ok, so at this point I am cramming the last few steps together after receiving my motors from Hobby King in China. At the time I am writing this I have already accomplished my maiden flight/crash test. Basically, these are the final steps I took prior to getting her out and in the air:

Step 5 - Paint & Assemble Frame, Mount Boards

Not sure how many steps this is going to take...hopefully just a few more! Just waiting on the motors from Hobby King. Will try not to order from China on the next build.

Step 4 - Drill Mounting Holes for Arms and Boards

In the next part of putting this copter together I measured and drilled mounting holes to connect the frame and motor mounts to the 1/2" aluminum arms. I also used a .pdf template to drill mounting holes for the Copter Control board and the power distribution...

Step 3 - Solder the Power Distribution Board

After researching a few power distribution options, I chose the DIY Drones power distribution board. It is a nice, clean little board and it was really easy to solder together with the included deans ultra plug connectors. The battery will be connected via 4mm banana...

Step 2 - Cut, Prep, and Fit the Arms

For my second step, I chose to measure, cut, and test fit the 1/2 inch square aluminum arms. I cut one piece to a length of 24" and it will pass all the way through the center of the frame, serving as two of the four arms. For the remaining 2 arms, I cut two lengths of aluminum to 11 3/4". Step 1 - Build the Frame

This is my first ever quad copter build, as well as the first time using copter control. I will log the whole build here, and in more detail on my own website. I am still waiting on a few parts, but I am ready to start building the frame. I will be using the Blue Sky RC xRotor Mega Sport Quad frame. Here's what the parts look like before...
