While I wait for the next set of components to arrive, I had the chance to play around with attaching the CopterControl Case Clip designed by Jes111 to the freshly dyed bottom plate.
Although it is not really necessary, I am always a bit wary of vibrations, so I like to isolate the CopterControl board and protective case from the main frame with spacers. In this case it is 5mm long by 1/4" outer diameter (OD) black round nylon spacers. Between the spacers and bottom plate on one side, and the spacers and CopterControl Case Clip on the other, are neoprene backed washers to help absorb vibrations.
Aside from helping with any vibration dampening, the spacers also provide enough room to cleanly allow wiring up through the center hole. I haven't exactly figured out where I will place the ESCs, especially since they are huge 30A ESCs, but having a little more room to organize the wiring can't hurt. Probably overkill with the 30As, but what I have on hand at the moment.
The black Shapeways coloring came out of a bit darker than my homebrew dye job, but not too far off all things considered. I'd pop in my CopterControl/CopterControl Case, but it is currently in the VC-450 and I don't feel like taking it apart at the moment...
Next up will be putting all the components together, and then sizing out the ESC leads and power distribution spider before soldering it all together.
