Yes, longer arms are always a good Idea for a start.
My first training flights cost a lot of propellers while (fast) landing sequneces  ;)
Now I've a nice prop grave here.

I see no marking for front/back side indication. (hint: some color at the backside of your landing gear)
Sometimes something like that is very usefull.

Yes this will definitely come. Right now, I still can recognize the sides with my slow flying, but the floats will get marked.

what are you getting for flight times??
I wish i had done the long-arm on mine,
but its DOA now,,,

I use theese pool noodles like yours since my first build an year ago but one blue and one yellow for orientation
