Hello all. I was trying to get jello free 1080p video for a project us twl guys are working on(cant wait to share our experience).

After spending a few bux, and a lot of time trying different combinations of foam/rubber/mounting. I came up with an idea. What absorbs vibes??? Sound is vibes...hmm, ear plugs aha!!! I tried the cylindrical green foam plugs, they reduced jello, but not all. So I bought 2 more bags of the orange foam ear plugs, there soft and close cell, so there is not a ton of air in them. They worked but again not perfect,  way better than my previous attempts.

I have seen some stuff called Moon Gel. It is used by drummer's to reduce vibes and noise coming from a rattling drum head. Another aha moment was had. So here is my jello free mount for using the gopro @ 1080p. I will take better pics later this is from a txt message I sent to Pete, and Alex.

HT Frame/thick double sided foam tape/G10 bottom plate/Foam ear plugs/G10 Top Plate/Moon Gel/Jello free 1080 Gopro :D
Attached File  NOJello.jpg   159.33K   45 downloads
I use string to hold it all together. I will post a vid as well shortly. Pete and Alex, have seen the results, and are just as excited as me that it works.

I know this probably is not a new idea.  When I was looking for a jello solution for my htfpv frame, It seemed I was on my own.

I'd love to see a sexy version done by someone with more than hand tools hahaha! It works I am a happy camper woofrickenhooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!

I actually bought some surplus silicone breast "augmentation" out of China.  I then cut them down into pads between two plates on the camera mount... Works like a charm..

Yea .. I have one .. Throw out /sell the go pro and get a cam with an actual CCD device and not the cheapo cmos in the gopro.

The jello is due to the rolling shutter method used by cmos sensors. Unless you eliminate every last little bit of vibration , which is not actually practical , there will be jello with a cmos.

got a link to a 720 60FPS camera with a CCD sensor that will also do 1080 at 30FPS and 640x480 at 120fps at a weight of 3 ounces and costs under $300?

oh ya, and water proof, and shock proof, and available mounting options for cars, motorcycles, surf boards, steadicam mounts,a nd replacement lenses?

Show me the cam that weighs about the same as a gopro, has a live feed out I can use for fpv, and doesnt cost $500 or more, and I am in. Until then the gopro cmos works well for me. I can hard mount at 720 60 fps no jello. Or become a little creative w the mounting.

So far so good. I got some great jello free 1080 yesterday under very bright daylight. All other attempts w diff foam under similar lighting gave me some jello here and there.

Ok .. So you dont actually want a *solution* .. you want a work around for the gopro. Please forgive me for thinking you wanted an ACTUAL solution.

I may be trying this on my tricopter. I had tried this before, but the mount I made kept flying off...I was still having trouble landing at the time. Perhaps it;s time to revisit this.
