Hi!

It has been some time now since i started to mostly lurk around on this forum, so now I decided to share my latest project with you guys, so here goes :)
This will be my second multirotor so far.

The initial idea was a full metal constructon heavy lift Y6, so I started messing with CAD and a few late nights later I had my initial design, wich will probably change a bit as I go.

So first off I made some boom holders, starting from 30x30mm aliminium sqare tube .After some drilling and cuting I made this

then again 5 more times.

Next i started cuting 2 central plates out of 1,5mm Al. No fancy CNC excuse here  thats the way to do it

They look like this

Also cut some 25mm Al tube, then I coud finaly do some assembling.

Frame started to take shape B)
Now It's all about adding stuf to it.

I needed some spacers, so I made some:

Hand cut battery plate and electronics plate:

Ok, that's all for now guys, so it's time for questions, comments, ideas, tips...

Looks nice and coming from a scratch airplane background I am always very keen on home-made hand crafted items, but it gives the impression of being very (unnecessarily) heavy? I think that even if you mean to make a heavy duty lifter you are ok with carbon/fiberglass, or increasing the thickness & adding holes, much lighter. I am nonetheless keen on seeing it progressing till the end :)

Wow, that is a bad*ss looking frame. Love the utilitarian design aesthetic. Is it as heavy as it looks, or did it come out relatively light? Are those brass spacers as well? Could almost looks steampunk-ish... :)

Lovely work :)

An easier option for clamping the tubes would be these: http://www.skiffy.co...fm&order=browse

Thanks

Yes, the weight. As it stands it weighs 1,1kg. For scale, one boom is 0,5m long. Is that a lot?
I'm probably looking at 3 to 3,5kg RTF weight, depends on what kind of power system I decide to use.

And yes, that are brass spacers, I like working with that stuf despite it being heavy.

Other than that: took some new photos, now with landing gear:

Also I did some early load testing, The frame could easyly suport over 12kg.
