Can you say what is the difference with the CopterControl board case.
I have 2 of those but the cases from Frankenquad.
Wonder what I have to do to make them fit.
On the inside I mean.
Does the CC3D have the same dimensions??

I don't remember if this is all but there is a slight change in the USB connector position that made it not quite fit in the previous case :(

Out of the Wiki

IMPORTANT NOTE: Due to some very slight dimensional differences, this case needs some minor modifications with a knife/file to fit the CC3D. A solution is being investigated but it is likely I'll produce a separate version for CC3D.

Yep - the USB socket is set slightly further back (so the hole needed to be elongated) and the servo headers have moved slightly (about 0.85mm, but that makes a big difference!)

The new version also has the OP logo, an additional peep hole for the LEDs, an updated profile around the JST sockets (to prevent fouling with the connector 'wings') and the case screw holes are now big enough that a standard M3 hex head screw drops down out of sight.

As far as I no the output pins, and usb port are in slightly different places on the CC3D,
when compared to the CopterControl !

So both the upper and lower portions of the case have changed? How far has the connector shifted? I asked this question to the devs/beta testers a few weeks back and was told that everything was the same.

That's a shame, I just recently purchased three CCv1 cases to eventually use with a CC3D (don't own a v1 either), so I guess they'll all need some trimming.

All three parts together weigh approximately 11g - plus your screws, of course.

Sorry about that - blame Dankers ;)

You could keep the lower case parts you have - you just need to shave about 1mm from the back of the aperture that fits around the USB socket. You could also hand-modify the top part to fit the new header position - again it's only about 1mm, but the Futaba tabs won't line up. If you order new "CC3D" top parts they will fit just fine with your "CopterControl" bottom parts. The clip is identical and works with both CopterControl and CC3D versions.

btw - reports elsewhere indicate that the CC3D fits okay in the Frankenquad case.

Thanks for the info, good to know.

Nah, I won't blame Dankers, he's got a lot of blame free credit in the bank. I'm sure if they made such a change there was a good and necessary reason. :D

Jes, fantastic stuff!! Quick question: would you be opposed if I used your source file to order a modified version of this case with a TGG logo added to it?

No problem! - do you have access to Solidworks or do you want to send me an EPS of the logo and I'll slap it on there?

woohoo! thanks! If you could send the solidworks files, that would rock. I was going to use google sketchup pro, but seems it's not ideal :( Always wanted to putz around with shapeways. :)

p.s. does dying from white to black give good results? I hear Rit dye can be obtained as easily as looking in the laundry aisles in walmart !
