It’s ON!! :D

Team Drop Bear’s Official Multirotor FPV Racing Season 1 has begun!

We are a group of Open Pilot users in Melbourne Australia that decided that Multirotor FPV needed an edge, so the racing started.
It’s not really racing but more like time trials. Each person races separately against the stopwatch which also eliminates mid air crashes and frequency conflicts.
The rules for the competition are posted below.

Here are the tracks for season 1!

http://vimeo.com/50876270

http://vimeo.com/50876271

http://vimeo.com/50877210

http://vimeo.com/51415744

We will keep this thread updated with the scores and videos of what happens.
We have had a few practice sessions so far and it is insane fun and extremely addictive!

If you have a few friends in your area start up a competition and post your videos and results here too!

Let's get racing!

Rules

1. Don’t talk about FPV Racing. ;)
2. The race must be performed via FPV.
3. The order of whom goes first will be drawn from a hat before the race.
4. Competitors can build and FPV any multirotor they choose.
5. The stopwatch starts when you leave the ground
6. The stop watch stops when you land after completing the full course.
7. Please do not turn on a video transmitter unless it is your turn to race or when the racing has finished.
8. Competitors may have 3 practice laps before they race, but they MUST nominate their competition (scored) race BEFORE they race it.
9. A race season will consist of 1 race meet at each track.
10. A contestant may change / swap their multi rotor at any time to another platform. (Tri to hex, 3S to 4S, 1200’s to 1300’s etc…)
11. The person with the most points at the end of each season will be the season champ and will bask in the glory of knowing that they are better than everyone. B)

Season Points:

The points for the day will be issued as follows…
1st place = 10 Points
2nd place = 9 points
3rd place = 8 points
4th place = 7 points
5th place = 6 points
6th place = 5 points
7th place = 4 points
8th place = 3 points
9th place = 2 points
10th place = 1 point
11th place = 0 points……..

IF you crash (for any reason) you get a big fat 0 points!!
(Be careful, slow and steady could win the race) It’s way better to come 6th than crash!

Dude, awesome competiton

Any chance you could also race around a 20 meter, figure 8 track for 5 laps ?

That way you could also enter in the figure 8 racing that already got a bit of competition on it

do you mind if i do a section on this site http://racingmultiro....wordpress.com/, and repost from here/vimeo , helps get more interest

here in NZ we are thinking of doing a figure 8 race, two multis starting at opposite ends of the track (can you imagine the clenching twice per lap at the crossover :) )

I dunno, 51 seconds or something (pause the video :) )..There was a pipe on the ground that we used as a finish line. The trick at this track was to yaw 180 and face the finish line.

OMG WE MUST DO THIS!

Ok then...
Pretty rough video, I had only flown FPV maybe 2 or 3 times, and boy does it show!
One of those damn red pillars jumped out in front of me, was the end of flying for that night.
