Fantastic, Frederic... thank you for your contribution! I love that it's an I2C interface... neat, elegant and reliable.

So we should just be able to buy this: http://www.hobbycity...?idProduct=8304 and plug it in to OP and have everything work? That's great! Well done Frederic!

For $40.00 (USD), it's hard to complain about, especially since there's no rats-nest of wires to hook up (thanks to the I2C interface).

Yes, the fonts are a little big, but hey... it's only forty bucks!

Well done, Frederic (though I prefer medium-rare)!

Glad you guys like it :)

The rationale is also that the ET stuff is very popular and that many people may have such an OSD laying around.

Apologies for digging out old threads but it wouldn't make much sense to create a new one when the subject is exactly the same.

I also have the ET OSD Pro. I was able to use the ACC's analog data from the MultiiWii sensors to feed into the OSD and to have the AHI working, and just that.

But when I saw that the ET OSD could be used with the CC I wondered what about the ET OSD PRO?
Did someone managed to use it with the CC?

Honestly, its a total waste of time, Eagletree did not want us to do this and were hostile about it, as it is closed source there is a huge a mount of effort with decoding the protocol and even if we do it, they can then changing it at their whim.

While it was neat to do at the time, supporting closed source stuff is fairly useless for us, the rug can be pulled out way too easy.

I have flown FPV since the very early days and made the mistake of buying all these flashy OSDs, but they mainly suck and get in the way. They are a neat toy to start with but most are too complex, this is why the simple OSD was good, just the basics that were needed and nothing more.

I am really surprised their is no real simple Open Source OSD out there yet that is low cost, there is some GPL software for the E-OSD and G-OSD from Hobbyking but with the major flaw that they show no home arrow or home distance which is the biggest safety feature we need for FPV as its so easy to get lost.

Remzibi OSD! fairly inexpensive (about USD110 depending on the Euros fx rate), comes with gps. Its programable via supplied interface cable and GPL SW wich allows to place the info YOU require and nothing more, including return to home arrow... has several open inputs to display many other variables as well!

I thought that was closed source also?

If the firmware is Open Source it is worth considering but last I looked it was just another closed source OSD.

What about this one - http://code.google.com/p/super-osd/

I sponsored Thomas when he wanted to make a couple of production boards.

Sure looks like fully Open Source and a much better option but is it actually available yet? The last commit was at the end of May which may or may not be a concern.

Honestly, I think we will do something very low cost and simple ourselves. PT was looking at some Open Source AVR firmware but it was always going to be an issue using 8 bit, so we will do something with an STM32.

Remzibi OSD is homemade and manufactured by: Zbigniew Wierzbicki which is an RC enthusiast in Poland. I bought one from him and am very happy with it and its performance. Program software is written by happykilmore. I am sure if you write him and let him now about the project he might be able to release the code to you.

His info is Copy / paste below from the emails I exchanged with him:

==================
remzibi1@poczta.onet.pl

Any questions ? - just ask .
Im must say that not good english (nor polish) manual is wrote yet , so till now you must base on that what is wrote on forum rc-cam.info and RCgroups , also in configuration program is online help button - use it . I strongly recommend to read it .
Those who reading it , have not problems using OSD - so I hope you also will .

Configuration software to dowload : http://www.happykill...Setup/Setup.exe

Honestly, don't want to open that can of worms, if the source is released publicly and its a fully Open Source project then cool, but I don't want any special privileges. My issue is that being closed has bitten us already with EagleTree and doesn't work well for us.

I would be careful about posting that email, I am not sure he wants it known that he asks people for samples of the Maxim chip to use in production devices, a lot of people don't like he does this already. If you like the IC and use it in a design: buy it, not ask customers to get free samples and send them to you.
