I had a cc3d in my flip FPV and I could turn the FC 90 degrees to easily connect the USB. But on my qav400 the spacers are right at the center and block access. So I have been pulling out my battery to plug in the USB which is very frustrating in the field. I finally hacked together a solution using mounting hardware from a frankenquad tomb combined with my shapeways case. Cc3d now at 45 degrees. Curious what others are doing.

Here are some pics. Note I had to use some spacers under the case as the button head screw in front of the USB port was also blocking the port.

I mounted mine at a 90 degree angle and just left the spacer that would block the USB connection off if the frame. Doesn't seem to have weakened the clean frame much at all.

Yeah, I like it!  Whats your setup?   Did you start with Juz, or Robs pids, and go from there?

Great work man!

Your last suggestion seems to be working. I would like to see your latest PID settings to see how close we are.

Alright guys, so the last few weeks i've been tuning the QAV400.  I used Juz's PID settings as a baseline and i slowly started increasing KP until i got osciliations or strange characteristics.  I found his Rate ROLL KP to be spot on.  I noticed some wobbles with a KP greater than .00200.  I dropped it down to .00190 and it was perfect.  I also carefully reviewed Rob's settings and they were close to Juz's... i believe he used Juz's as a baseline as well.  He is using 900kv Motors however as opposed to Juz's 980kv motors.

Juz's pitch KP was to low though.... atleast with my QAV400.  It would not hold the angle or pitch well, it overshot or continued to drift in fast forward flight.  I slowly increased the KP until those unwanted characteristics went away.  The pitch angle now is holding well and she is rock solid.

Here are my settings for the QAV400.  I had over 50 flights trying different things and i found these numbers to provide the best flight characteristics... for me.

I do this as well. 45 degrees works perfect

I just use double sides sticky tape though. No custom mounts required and it helps absorb any final vibrations that might happen to get to the board

i've tried double stick tape on quads and had some crashes.  When I found the quad, the FC was loose.  I don't know if it came loose during flight and caused the crash or came loose after the crash, but I don't trust the sticky tape anymore.

Try them out and let me know how it goes.  Im going to add a little KD in yaw to see how she does.

The ADS 400Q is much harder to tune IMO.

Anyone know if covering the outside of my antenna with some braided wire sleeve would lower my range at all?
