While looking at the PipXtreme code, I realized that it contains some PPM code. Does this mean I could throw out the R/F part of my RC transmitter (which is a 15 year old 35MHz unit with a HUGE antenna) and replace it with a PipXtreme?

Not yet though!

I still have to write the packet handing to get the PPM data across the RF link.

I'm also looking for a 35MHz TX module for my Tunigy 9X RC transmitter, you know of any let me know. I want to be able to use the 9x with my 35MHz receivers.

Will it send the same packets as the GCS does when using the Controller Gadget or will it be "something different" ?
I like the idea very much. Small vehicles can obmit the normal receiver and only use PipXtreme to save weight. Larger one's could possibly use both and have two independent control links  (R/C + PipXtreme) for additional safety.

Something like this? The page is written in german, but I think the pictures tell enough :)

Seems like the module is produced by Graupner.

Thank you Berkeley, though a local friend is ordering one for me so it's OK.

It's not really for OP, just so as I can use 35MHz when I need too.
