Run into a snag setting up CC with GCS
At RC input stage it will not let me calibrate, all values at "0"
Was going by Dave's setting up video and all was going as described till then
Using "Orange" receiver.
Have included screen shot

Have done another screen capture to detail what I have done
Where I circle the "Receiver connected" is when I actually connect the receiver, ie is says connected when it is not
I have tried another receiver with same result.

You have the PPM version of the FW installed.  As far as I know the Orange receivers are only PWM.  You have to get the PWM (default version)

You definitely need to use the PWM firmware with an Orange receiver.

Mic_S in the config page  on top of the CC picture is a tab you may change it to PWM there.

there are two versions of the firmware presently ... one does PWM, Spektrum etc and the other ONLY does PPM.  You can select PWM in the PPM version but the selection does nothing.  You must download and install the PWM version of the firmware.

go here
http://wiki.openpilo...tware Downloads

just do NOT download the PPM version

Still no luck
I have reloaded firmware which is imbedded in GCS
I have tried the spektrum receiver AR7000
I have even tried an old JR F500 36Mhz set
have tried PWM and PPM although my transmitter seems to only connect with PPM(JR X-3810 with Spektrum module)

It always comes up  RC receiver not connected or invalid input configuration (missing channels)

I have tested the receiver with a servo to check that is is connected and it is.
Am I connecting the receiver input to the CC board wrong. (power and signal wire((white, black, red)) to throttle,blue-aile, yellow-elev, green-rudd, orange-gear)

Got it finally. Spent the last few hours reading up on the wiki and have put must things together.
Started setup again and bingo it all works, but unfortunately it is now too late to go fly so will try it out tomorrow afternoon and post the results along hopefully with a video (have to keep Matt happy)
Thanks for the reply guys ...big help...

I have finally got my scarab up had a lot of nose down in the beginning. kept reading and found some kp and ki  tips and have a close  tune.
This morning Thursday the 10th  I awoke to  win 7 Ultimate update and now the GCS will not load i end up with this message:
openpilotgcs.exe has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.
Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

FYI i have uninstalled CGS and reinstalled with the same result.......... any help here will be greatly appreciated....

First, delete your settings directory.

Mine lives here:

C:\Users\David\AppData\Roaming\OpenPilot

Just delete that entire dir and start the GCS, it should tell you your settings are missing and then start normally.

I happened to be at mailbox ... found nothing ... was looking at ground, dejected, when a postie drove up, said "Are you waiting for me?", and handed me a package.

It was something else. Lol.

Hard not to get frustrated with the 'Open Source' delivery times:

"Postage to Australia seems high, if i use a cheaper postal option it can take 10-20 days, and i get too many complaints after the first 8 days - so expensive shipping is the only option"

I don't think mine has even been posted yet. I don't have tracking information, and I don't think I am allowed to complain or there will be a 'no soup for you (me)' situation.

So this is not a complaint. Just a -sigh- ...

:-(
