I think this has come up before, but currently whenever the output module has an error (which can include when the input module has an error since output complains if it's not getting control signals) that blocks test outputs working.  I found this behavior counterintuitive and just added a dialog box to warn the user.

We could change this behavior so that the output error condition doesn't block outputs but I'm more comfortable keeping that as a failsafe.  Thoughts?
