I wanted a powerful, smooth and quality platform for "special" FPV operations. I really hope to install a CC PRO board to make this the ultimate (for me) UAV FPV machine... capable and versatile.

So far
Frame : UAP1 - 475mm
Small Floating Plate Camera Mount
Motors : Avroto 2814 short shaft
ESCs : turnigy plush 30A
Props : 10 x 4.5 ..will probably change to 11 inch

Soon
AR7010 rx
CopterControl board
1.3ghz 300mW Vtx
480 OSD FPV camera
Gopro HD hero 2 (maybe)

Oh nice!
But don't you think it's a tiny bit overpowered... ;)

Looks really good. Once I get to be a better quad flyer, this frame setup type will be on my list.

Hey, that looks familiar :D

One thing you might consider changing is the location of that distribution board. In a severe crash, the arms can be pushed inward, so you have to think about what (if anything) they'll hit. It's far less likely than it used to be when there was only one block per arm, but it could still happen. If that power pcb has copper to the edge of the board, and if one side is + where the other is -, a crash could get more exciting than you may want :o

Cheers,
Rusty

BTW, what is shown from the 480 OSD FPV camera besides video? Is there any data available without something like eagletree osd?

Hey Juz...what's your expected AUW with this new frame? I'm looking into a Rusty frame because the ability to upgrade to a hexa with just some parts is very enticing. Just wondering what the weight is. Also what size booms did you go with?

Yeah he went with the larger booms.

I'm building essentially the same thing (slightly different component layout but most of the same gear - UAP1, Avroto's, CC, Turnigy 30A ESCs, etc) with some added telemetry (Xbee 50mw) and other goodies. I'm using the 12mm OSD for booms from an Align 450 T-Rex vs the 500. And I'm using 11x4.7 props out the gate. I haven't decided on my FPV gear yet but will be adding a HD HERO2 as well (yes Rusty, I'll probably be buying a plate soon although I might go with a gimbal mount).

Hey Rusty. I am not going to crash it  yeah right. I did consider the movement of the arms in a crash. The PCB is mounted directly to the bottom frame plate..the arms can slide inwards and clear the PCB by 2-3mm no problem.

No. I will not use an OSD with this machine..yet. Maybe in the future though....OP CC PRO OSD ??

Yep the booms are trex 500. Not sure on AUW yet. So far its 1300grams. Will tell you soon, when my board turns up and I finish the build.

Hi Juz, 1300g is good for something that big. How much battery are you planning on putting on there?

I'm starting to nudge 2kg AUW, but that's with 9000mAh 4S. I'm getting there, but it's taking forever :(

With those motors you've got about 4500g max thrust so you're sitting pretty so far. :)

Yeah, but add rx, CC board, fpv camera, vtx, wiring, landing gear (not sure on this yet) and fpv and flight batteries. I am sure I'll be near 2kg.

I will start with a 3300 mah 3s nanotech. We'll go from there. I am guessing that I'll be putting something a little larger in this puppy.
