Very nice!
Can you please share your settings exported to a file? It would be interesting to compare, I still cannot tune mine at least to a point at where you at... mine is a bit sluggish and not very stable in rate hover.

OK, thanks, I'm mostly just comparing the rates and mixer numbers, I see yours are much higher.
I guess I was too cautious, maybe that's the reason mine was not very stable/controllable.

Having it way too low can be worse than slightly too high. Try it on a quad to see what I mean (safer to try on a quad lol).

I have the same issue with heli not being very stable in hover, trying to figure it out.
Will post settings :)

Great- Thanks for sharing.
I have tried with my 500 and not yet found a sweet spot.
I will take a look at your settings and try these out.
Which servos are you using?

New config that is a little bit better uploaded.

*** Warning ***

tail is reversed, servo update speed is 400hz on tail
and 333hz on swash.
Change this before connecting servos if your machine can't do that.
Always armed is enabled, configure throttle hold and remove blades.

New config was possible after removing faulty bearings and main shaft,
now gains are a little bit higher and Gyro Tao is raised a little bit.

CC behaves much better now but still have some trouble holding an axis
given to it.

DAMN, talking about the great balls of fire, you guyz are probably the bravest ppl on the planet, i can see that you are doing it cociuos and smart flying away from you but still respect.
I'm 3d heli pilot and all i can say if i would use flybarless system i wouldn't settle for less than microbeast controller, idealy v bar to be on safe side. Flybarless is very demanding stuff, it's not like if you louse 1 servo in flight with flybar, if flybarless controler goes crazy, DAMN, RUN! hehe

btw awesome work there, it's unbelivable that OP cc board can do what you guyz achived, amazing =)

Thanks!
This trex had beastx before i upgraded to CC :) it was probably my best flying heli, i also have a Gaui X5 with V-bar.
Did not dare to use the X5 for testing CC, i think it would be plain stupid to try something like that..

I am trying to keep the heli far away, hovering close is ok but inverted hover i try to keep it at least 20 meters away,
one thing i found out is that CC is very calm, it is not doing any twitches, if it shakes from to much gain.. well it shakes but there
is no problem taking it back for landing. Its more like a flybar heli with a non level swash plate.

I have one problem that i need to figure out, but i don't think its cc related is that unlike other systems that keep an angle if you release
the sticks my trex just fall down from that angle like its balancing on a big ball. Like i said, I'm not even sure if this is CC or vibrations yet.

Very good idea to have that list!
I hope i can provide even better values soon, we have winter in Sweden now
with mostly storm and rain/snow, when it gets a little bit colder i can start doing
some more testing :)
I will also do some testing with vibration dampening and also try a CC case i got from JoeCNC
to bring more mass to the CC.

Is that case something that is for sale? If so, do you have a URL?

Good luck with your winter test flights. :)

I was reading the heli setup guide again http://forums.openpi...-setup-process/
after extensive flight testing with two different cc boards, i could not get my Trex 500 to keep axis after letting go
of the sticks so it just drifted and almost fell over if i was not correcting all the time.

Then i noticed...

To prevent oscillations at this level Gyro Tau has been raised to .04 from .005 default.

i had been thinking this was a typing error before since my Gyro Tau has been around 0.005
but no, i found that he actually was using 0.04 and i went outside and tried this.
With freezing fingers ( -6c) and almost no light on the parking lot outside
i had a great little hover with my Trex 500 :) it was just like my V-bar on agile settings
and i could let go of the sticks and heli kept attitude without a problem in both axis lock and rate :) :)
Now its time to start tuning for real.

This config looks flies OK, cc is sitting on left side of heli, do not load if you have analog servos.
