Thank you so much for your advice.  I see those are a bit heavy now.

how about these motors.  http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__4699__hacker_Style_Brushless_Outrunner_20_50S.html
Is the KV too low you think?

Or how about these?  http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__2049__hacker_Style_Brushless_Outrunner_20_34S.html
KV too high on these?

I have used the 2022Ls from the same brand on my larger quads with great results.  they are a bit pricey but I know they are quality.

I may try to make a stabilized mount for my gopro so maybe I should error on the side of being overpowered rather than underpowered.

Or maybe even these perhaps.  http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewitem.asp?idproduct=5684

I really have no idea how to pick out motors.  I alway go with a reccomendation.  So I really do appreciate your help.

Alright, as so many of you have issues getting the the aluminum rods, i'm now offering a pre-cut arms set for the Quadrixette 30 in the shop as well (just like with the nano). I hate cutting them by hand, but i haven't found a better solution until now.

As with the nano arms, they are cut in length, but not drilled. This can be done extremely easy with the provided drilling template.
Picture will follow later today.

Great!  You have convinced me.  Will be ordering a 30 next month along with the arms.  Would do now but still trying for a CC board and the budget only stretches so far.  Anyway, thanks for listening to us and giving us newbies some recommendations.  Frank

Here it is - all done. What a beautiful piece. This has to be the best looking, most practical and easiest to assemble quad I've ever built, I kid you not (and I've built quite a few multirotors over the years). Unfortunately I forgot to order the OC Mounting Plate, which should be here by friday. Grrrr....  :-)

Thanks, guys. I already did my maiden... improvised CC mount made from double-sided tape. I wouldn't take it for a lengthy spin like this but hell... you know how it is - just couldn't wait :)

Uploading short video now, coming up in a bit.

K Wells: sure thing, Just ordered the Quadrixette 30 frame, GoPro Cam Mount and a Mounting Plate for the CC FC at Elias' shop. I am using a T-Rex 500 LG which fits perfectly (will require you to enlarge the holes slightly).

Other than that:
- 4x A2208/17 outrunners
- 4x 12A Turnigy ESCs
- 8x4.5 props

- using two 3S 1000mAh Turnigy lipos

@Fredator: Nice build! Great to see some painted arms finally ;-) It really is quite easy to do, and just looks SO much better. You can also use some foil which is even easier to apply, though i suggest using acrylic-based spray from the local store.

Oh, and just in case you might be afraid to crash the frame: The most "fragile" part of the setup is the connection of the GoPro-housing with the frame. Thats where the polyamid-screws come into play: In case of a crash, they will just "snip off". In 9 of 10 crash tests i've done they didn't even break and could just be screws in afterward. The housing itself also is very crash-resistant. I even did stand on the housing to test it, and it carried my 75kg very well :-)

Looking forward to the video!

btw: it's Felias! ;-)

Didn't even mess with the board settings yet... me in love! Great job on the frame :-) As soon as I find some time off, I will shoot and post a couple of outdoor vids.

Hey Importon,

Thanks! I've ordered the motors here: http://www.giantcod....r-p-405609.html

I am using 12A Turnigy ESCs, although 10A should be just fine if you happen to have some of those.

Best,

Fred

Hi guys,

for those of you who have their bird in the air already: Could you please post your settings (+used motors)? I think this would greatly help others.

Thanks,
Nic

I just had my first flights with the Quadrixette 30 frame.
I like! It flew better than I expected for a first flight.

The electronics were transfered straight from my CrashCopter frame without modifications or re-tuning and it flew instantly.

Controller  : OpenPilot CopterControl
Frame    : Quadrixette 30
Motors   : Gaui 330X-S Scorpion 1050kv
EScs : Gaui 330X-S 10A
Props    : Gaui 8"
LiPo : Zippy 3S 2100 35C
Landing gear: home made

Weight incl. GoPro and LiPo: 818 gram
Weight without GoPro and LiPo: 515 gram

The frame went together very easy. Everything was a perfect fit.
The only minor surprise was that the battery plate didn't fit the holes in the arm.
(I drilled exactly with the template, but the slightest deviation from the center of the arm-to-mainplate holes will be exaggerated at the point of the battery plate)
I had to redrill slightly closer to the quad center.
You might want the fit the arms first and then determine the position of the battery plate holes.

I replaced the wing nuts by plastic stand-offs. (a few grams lighter)

Not finished yet, need to get rid of the Nichiban and Scotch tape, tidy up the wires and balance the props.
The video tx will be on the top plate, the velcro is already there. Still need to make a video cable.
The straws at the back are to keep the antennas in place.
