Is anyone interested in helping me develop a control board for RGB-LED strips?

I was thinking of a board using these: Attached File  WS2801.pdf   422.56K   68 downloads

And having the same mounting hole pattern as the CC.

In it's simplest form I want a board to control 4 RGB-LED strips via SPI or I2C.  It should have it's own processor so thinks like strobe patterns are handled on-board and initiated via commands from the CC.  A voltage regulator and low voltage monitor will likely be part of it as well.

I've ordered parts and will start prototyping next week.

I'm mostly looking for ideas about features and assistance in cleaning up my circuits to the OP quality level. :)

1. Are you going to control colors for each strip individually?
2. Do you want to control brightness for each color?

Weird... I'm not getting notifications for this?

Yes, I want 4 RGB channels. (So, 16 channels really)

The chip I listed does the color mixing for you.  It's just a matter of writing the correct info to the chip.

I received the chips on Friday so I'll start prototyping this weekend and hopefully have a sample next weekend.
