Do able with openpilot
Replace the 3 drive wheels with three servos, that have been modified to continually run in both directions when you apply a signal greater or less than 1500 us, same as a boat winch servo

Then use a tricopter mix for pitch/roll and apply yaw to all three

I think you could also use an RC car ESC that can reverse directions if you had it geared down enough.

yea, not sure if they would be quick enough switching from forwards to reverse, as they normaly have a brake-pause thing going on.

to me servos are easy, its a motor/esc and gearbox all in one :)

http://www.acroname....continuous.html

was going to use two servos like that to make a RC paddle boat

http://www.hobbyking...?idProduct=9621
http://www.hobbyking...?idProduct=9860

should have brought more, because you can also use these to make a wheeled vehicle if you want to test out copter control for that

Will it work with regular wheels or does it need those special roller wheels in the video? Or are you thinking of a different design?

i am hoping that on a small scale i can get away with side ways slipping of the dead wheel, but if not, it will take a bit more work :)

Other? Other? Were all about flying robots! That's what the Revo really is, a flying robotics platform. CC still needs pesky human control, but Revo will dispense with all the humans. Ah, that came out wrong.
