Hai,

After building a Tricopter i kinda got hooked and now i'm building myself a new quad. :)
The idea started when i was looking and learning about multirotors and thought; that i could do better.
Not by design but as i learned as newb. that weight is key for most efficientcy.
So to be sort; enjoy.

Parts.

- Center Plate CF center-plate out of 1.5mm thick laminated sheet.
- Motor Mounts CF motor mounts out of 1mm thick laminated sheet.
- Arms HK-250 Tailboom.
- Tailboom Clamps HK-250 Tail-fin band.
- Motors Hacker 20-50S.
- ESC's Turnigy Plush 12amp.
- Elektronics Protection 100mm Christmas Ornament.
- RX FrSky 8channel telemetry.
- Battery Turnigy Nano 2200 3S1P.
- Flightcontroller OP Copter Control.
- Wires 20AWG thicknes.
- Props 8x4.5'' El Cheapo.

Weight calculation of this all.

10.8gram 100mm diameter CF 1mm thick frame
3.6gram 4 * motormounts CF
116gram 4 * motors 20-50S hacker
52gram 4 * 12amp turnigy plush
12.8gram 16 * tailboom-mounts with screws
18gram 4 * booms
15gram CC bord (estimated)
18gram 4 * 8'' GWS 2-blade Props
28.8gram 20awg 3.60meter
6gram hexagonal spacers with m3 bolths
5gram 4mm hxt accu plug
12.2gram 8ch FrSky RX
23gram dome
9gram battery strap
+
------------
330.2 gram

187gram Turnigy nano 2200mah 3S1P

+
------------
517,2 gram take-off weight.

Update; It actualy turned out that i wasn't that far beside.
AUW with 2200 bat. = 509gram.

Also added the template's. Have a look maybe you like it.
I've made it simple, so everyone can make the pieces, out of CF or GFK or anything you like, by hand.

How To;

You can use and download google skechup for free. Open and download the .skb file and zoom in to the part you want to print.
Than set under camera tab, the carmera to ''parralel projection''. Then under camera click ''standard view'' and than ''top view''.
After this you need to figule a little bit around and do a ''print preview'' to see how manny pages sketchup does want to print,
because sketchup tends to also print the border space, so always first try preview print.
After you've printed the template simple glue it onto a piece of CF or GFK and you have youre guide lines where to cut beside.

.DWG file
.SKB file You need a extractor like winrar though.

For those who wan't a rib bone design landing gear can order it at shapeways. I've also added 5 and 10 pieces. (look under my account).

I like! Thanks for pointing out those tail boom clamps. Those could be very useful for custom builds.

Would you mind weighing one of the clamps with the screws? The ones that I got from Goodluckbuy weigh 8g each. If they're already installed, no problem...

thanks.

No prob, My scale doesn't get below 1 gram, so i've thrown on 10 sets of the boom clamps with screws and 10 of them only weigh 8gram.
That would be 0,8 gram P/set. and they are made out of Aluminium. you also need a T6 trox screwdriver.

Beautiful work, I am also adept to protect the electronics with a dome
and this one is great design.
What you plan for the landing gear?

thanks guys, i appreciate the reply's.

I don't really know yet, what im going the to use or make the landing gear out-of.
At first i had the idea in the picture. But i also got another idea, by using 4* 2mm CF rods and just put them under an angle (like a tripot for camera).
But then al need to figure out how to mount them wich i dont know at this moment...yet.

First i wanted to ask someone to CNC the motormounts, but i decided to give it a shot myself, by hand.

Also a little change of plan. Made the motor mount look a little more organic.

I can also mount the props downwurths, eliminating the downwash normaly created on the booms.

Dude thats super clean! I think im gonna copy cat you for my LOS flyer. If you could let us know the weight of your frame alone - any electronics/power plant. I mean i know you added everything, but wanted to know after cutting etc.

thanks guys.

cool, go ahead. I'm also going to build my little brother one.
I was a little bit anches and just made one late tonight, to show here.
When i've don all 4 motormounts i wil weigh the frame without motors and elektronnics.
And a lot of passes in between through the build, but i'm hoping to get if at 500gram exactly.

Also i'm not sure if the hk-250 tailpipes are strong enough, they are incretably thin. But as they are only 0.88cents i dont mind wrecking a few.
It should also be a very quike fix, because of the finband clamps. And if the tailbooms do seem to be to fragile, i can always make it Ful carbon.

i've updated the template files in the TS.

You can use and download google skechup free. open and download the .skb file and zoom in to the part you want to print.
Than set under camera tab the carmera to ''parralel projection'' then under camera click ''standard view'' and than ''top view''.
After this you need to figule a little bit around and do a ''print preview'' to see how manny pages shechup does want to print,
because sketchup tend to also print the border space, so always first try preview print.

And what i've don is just glued on the printed paper on a sheet of Carbon Fiber.

edit;

Dude just looked through your other thread, Your a f**k*n bad a*s with hand tools. I think im going to get me a better jig saw now..........

thanks, i feel honored. i will tomorrow, if i can make some spare time to cut out the other mounts and will weigh it.
