almost too embarrassed to write this...but I freid my CC

long story short but I have CC upside down (dont ask me why) and while unplugging a servo the bec came loose  too and then slipped one pin to the side (casue the cables are pretty squezzed to get underneith the board...a bit of smoke and that horrible feeling of pure stupidness
( dont ask me why it was plugged to the battery while working on it)

is there anything that I can do with the board now?

May not be a total loss...

I did something similar myself and restored it to working order by replacing the 3V regulator IC. It is available from Digikey here for about $1 + shipping.

I remember some other forum posts about this issue also.

What happens when you connect the board now? Does the power LED light up?
Life is just a game, but atleast the graphics are awesome!

The CC, from the schematics, has 2 regulators onboard. You should really diagnose where the problem is, the easiest one is looking for heat marks or cooked components. If you need help, you can always take a picture or scan of both sides and the community can help point out the possible areas.
I swear that I try not to be, but I will eventually come across the same as my name! Just let me know.

I fried one of my CC boards today also but it almost was not my fault.  One motor on my octocopter was not turning but I didn't stop flying for a few seconds.  By the time I landed the ESC was in flames.  The fire when out quickly but so did the CC board.  Power from the bad ESC must have spiked into the CC.  Do you think the same component would be bad in my case? I can solder very small parts. I've looked the board over with a 10x scope and I can not see any damage. Nothing happens when I plug it in.

Ouch!
The schematics do not show any protection devices to ESC between the jacks and the controller ... hopefully someone knows otherwise.

apart from some oxidation on pin number six (where ubec was coneected) I cant see any damage , dont have a scope though

I defiantly try to learn smt soldering if I can get the cc back to work
if anybody has a good source to order these regulators in europe/austria please let me know (and maybe also everything else needed for smt ... apart from the normal soldering tools)

thanks for the help guys!

In both of these cases the most likely ruined component is the MCU honestly.  In the case of seeing smoking look at it's case for a small hole or visible damage.  It can be replaced by hot air (Aerhead - PM me since you are in the US and I can repair it probably).

James  Thanks for the offer but the board had a good life.  If there is a component that would likely fail from a voltage spike then I could replace it. Your time is much more valuable focused on revo or opesc. I have a new octo that I was trying to use two CCs on.  I found that two CCs can fight each other and work well but if you want them to work together in a normal octo a few of the motors end up with all the work. I'm looking forward to new firmware for the CC octo. The octo flies ok as a two motor quad even with the CC 9" off center. I call the new octo fatso, have a look at the attach file. Larry</p>

I allready ordered the regulators from farnell in austria
but If I understood this right there is probably more to change...hot air soldering is not that esay and doable with cheap equipment I guess
I can ask some of my friends if they know somebody to do it

I would really want this board to work again...dont even have a backup board right now
is somebody has an idea what I can do, then  that would be more then awesome :)

If you have a local TV shop where they actually repair the TVs, then there is a good chance that they have a rework station. I'm pretty sure they would help you out.
