so to the folks that do use FPV i was wondering if youd post your setup,
frame/motors/batts/
FPV gear, ground stations, ect,,

ive been doing searches, but got to thinking maybe a FPV title,,for itself, so when dummies like me come along we can read through it and see what others are using successfully

just a curious thought,
Kevin and astronutski has already been alot of help,
but would love to see picks and info from the others on here also,
john

Alittle bit of everything on my stuff in this thread:

http://forums.openpi...suppo-a2212-13/

Dave (thefokker), Pete  (Gundamnitpete), run almost the same things.    Its almost like Juz too however he had diffrent motors on his.

If juz loses signal and plows his quad deep enough into the ground, does it pop up in Chicago?

I strongly suggested to copy someone else stuff to the last letter that has had success like Juz.  This will save you a lot of time and effort and get you in the air faster.  Furthermore you'll save $$$ if you get it right the first time.  I love the OP forums here because it's very active and everyone will help you to the end.  Also check the following fpv forums.

i think a helpful thing for you to see is wiring diagrams, actual ground station setups, etc.

alex has some pretty good photos of his setup in his thread too.

I'm interested in peoples opinions on learning to be competent in LOS flight before moving onto FPV. I recently started FPVing but have flown all manner of things for about 14 years. Even then, FPV was weird to begin with and I'm not sure I would have had a 'safe' skillset to work with had I not had prior experience in the dynamics of model aircraft.

The problem with FPV is that flying is much easier, but getting the right combination of components to work flawlessly is difficult. I think Pete said it the best on RCG, FPV is like 6 hobbies rolled into one. Learning to fly LOS on a multicopter is definite a plus, since you have to learn to coordinate your stick movements, and not simply drop the throttle in sticky situations. When you start going into super aggressive "sport" flying you’ll also have to learn throttle management, just like you would with a collective pitch helicopter.

Yep, OP is really good for this and even the big boys are not afraid to share and help (Juz, safu, etc).

Keep it up guys!

The guy I met at a heli event got me into this (FPV and quads) and when I contacted him later for info, I basically got the go away and do it yourself attitude.  Not very Australian if you ask me.

A perfect quote, totally agree! Planes are even easier still as you can't accidentally go sideways in to a tree you didn't see. Personal experience speaking :o

You will not find that attitude here! There are some of the best of the best FPV guys here and they have little to prove to anyone so really helpful and friendly.

I'am testing out some cheap, newly aquired FPV gear---biggest problem I'am having is constantly looking up from the monitor.
So it goes--monitor-LOS-monitor-LOS-monitor--crash. Dagnamit.
Fortunately, I'am practising in a mates paddock with waist high grass---soft landings-just the odd prop break.

The best advice I can get is to just copy someone on here who has a proven settup. It can save you a lot of money. Another thing like someone suggested is get halfway decent at LOS flying because crashing LOS is much cheaper than crashing with all of your FPV gear on the quad.

Definitely stick to one or the other, you are actually hurting your progress this way :(

Go FPV from the start, take off to landing. Get a little practice in on a sim, and then go for it.

FPV quadcopters are easy to FLY but hard to HOVER, and even harder to hover in confined spaces. So, when you take off, go striaght into forward flight. Keep a good forward speed of 5-10mph and do some ciruits. This way, anything you hit will be coming from infront of you, instead of behind you :)

I've suggested this before, but it would be nice to have a spreadsheet like we have here for Gain Settings.

Only containing all the different proven FPV setups that people have done.  I'd be happy to fill out the data, if someone else creates the spreadsheet (not too good with them)...and those with proven FPV setups will share a list of their components.
