As more and more FPV pilots get their hands on this super cool frame from Hoverthings, we will need somewhere to share experiences and knowledge

I'll start with my build.

The frame is very similar to the prototype. Some changes include, more cut outs...making the frame lighter. Hooks on the arms to aid in assembly and re-builds. The motor mounts changed to move the motors slightly inboard. Addition of a top plate to protect electronic components.

i think this is going in the right direction....

and it might come a late summer project for me :)

thanks for sharing

Looking good! Maybe a good summer project for me or after I log some more hours LOS.
I'm building my own spider quad prototype frame and it looks very similar - but has that certain "homemade" charm. Test flight yesterday went spectacularly well.

I see hoverthings got pretty ballsy with the price. Looks like they're asking for some competition ;)

Not really, after looking into building my own frame, there is alot more materials loss producing less with this frame.

If they only included a complete four arm replacement kit with every frame purchase, that would be very nice. Sorry, I'm just sick of how often and easily they break for me. I've learned not to stare at it too hard for fear of breaking something. So I just take a picture and stare at that as I drift off to sleep.... aaahhhhhhhhh.......
Or a "break 3, get one free" program or some discount card or something.

Its a good balance between weight and strength, but once you add mass to it nothing is indestructable. Ive broken a couple armes and a few dozen landing gear.

yeah they're tough. I have had many crashes where I just dust it off and fly again.
In a big crash, most quads will bend an arm or worse like a frame plate or other parts if the arms are too strong (I've seen this with the Zombie frame).

Worst crash that I've had with a hoverthings frame cost me 24 bucks. I think arms SHOULD be the weak point.

The last crash I had with the prototype killed my hero2 by shoving the lens into the camera. Very hard, high speed inpact into a carpark. Damage to frame = one arm. TOUGH.

Maybe Bill needs a DJI (unbreakable) frame ;)

that should just read:

"nothing is indestructable"

lol, if it don't break, we'll find a way to break it!
