About Me
I got into this quadcopter addiction cause of JUZ and his sweet videos!!! Love his videos and his outback adventures. My wife hates my new hobby but im loving it. Ive built both my quads using aluminum bar stock bought from the hardware store. My first one i used 3/4" square aluminum bar that was 4ft long and i hacked it in half and built it off that. 4 escs, 4 motors, FY-90Q, a cheap radio, a couple of nights building and soldering, and it was flying. Not the best build and definitly not the lightest but it was flying. Had alot of fun learning with this beater and replaced about 3 sets of motors and who knows how many props due to some good crashes. Not so good for the quad but the frame and everything else almost always survived for another day(until it caught on fire cause I hit a neighbors fireplace and blew up a esc). I couldnt get that burnt electrical smell out of my nose for 2 weeks.
My next quad i used 1/2" round aluminum tube with alot smaller escs and smaller motors. This one is soo much easier to fly and about half the weight of my first one. I also gained about double the flight time cause of the loss of weight. I still used the crappy FY-90Q for this quad and was always having to adjust this and reset that just to fly it every day and between battery changes. Then with my endless Quad research i came across JUZ mentioning something about an open pilot control board and how sweet it was. Off I was pounding the internet once again looking for one of these. Finally found a shipment coming in and got one ordered up. Now its time to see how well this makes the quad fly. At the moment im waiting for X-mas to get out of my way so i can buy 4 more motors and start flying with a real control board. Not that ill be all bad ass like JUZ but ill try till i crash and then replace the props n motors and then try it all over again. Thats the part that my wife hates. The broken quad coming home after i was up all night tinkering on it. Thanks for the great videos JUZ70 and the inspiration you bring to all the quad flyers out there. Keep it up man.
